Yule time cheers again!
This entry is exclusive to those that have decided to participate in the Secret Santa I'm putting together this year. I have had several requests to start this "wish list" entry, as I did it last year and it seemed to help.

The Secret Santa names have been drawn and I have attempted to contact everyone who said they wanted to do it. If I haven't contacted you, I either didn't get a definate answer on it, you are hard to contact, or just don't pay attention to email. Call me if you said you were in and haven't heard from me.

This entry is really going to be more of a public cork board for everyone participating in Secret Santa to comment with their "wish list". Each person participating should post here with a few things they would like for this season in an attempt to make gift shopping easier. We may all be very close but sometimes shopping for a gift for a friend can be difficult and this is designed to help. You don't have to post anything but I'm sure your Santa would appreciate it. Those with no LJ's can comment anonymously here and just leave their name at the bottom or in the subject field. This will be open to everyone to view so check back periodically to see if the person you got has added their "wishlist". Gifts listed should be within the $10-$20 range but Santas are more than welcome to exceed that should they choose to. If you know someone who is doing Secret Santa but doesn't have computer access or a LJ or rarely/never checks their email, ask them if they'd like you to add their list in order to make it easier for everyone. We have a good turnout this year, as usual.

I think that about does it. As a reminder, the Christmas Party will be at Colby and my house on Friday, December 15th. Time is around 7:30. If anyone has any questions or need directions, give me a call or something!

My wish list remains the same as it was last year, with one add on. Guess I'm just a simple man.

- Best Buy Gift Card is the Ultimate gift!
- I also like cigars, typcially Romeo Y Julietta brand, Numero Dos, Monte Cristos, or the occassional Churchill.
- Wine is good. I really like Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon
- There is a game called "Zombies!!!" by Twilight Creations. Most of you have seen or played it with me. I need the 3rd expansion (Mall Walkers). Rusty Scabbard or A+ Comics would have it for sure.

I don't really have a wish list per se, but I'll list things I'm interested in to help with whoever got stuck with me. =)

+Anything Harry Potter. I've got the books and movies, obviously. But pretty much anything related to the series is fair game. Especially, if it's Slytherin. What can I say? I'm a bit obsessed. =)

+Artsy Things. Me in Michael's is like a kid in a candy store. Gift card if you feel like it, but I cross-stitch and paint and play around with yarn, ribbon, and beads.

+Jewelry. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, hair clips. Studded, spiked, Victorian. As long as it's not pink or gold, I'm cool.

+Daggers.

+Music. If you check out my LJ profile, there's lists of bands and genres of music that I'm into. I haven't bought a CD in over a year, so there's a good chance I don't have it (unless it's classical).

+Books. I really enjoy historical fiction/non-fiction, as well as alternate history books. SciFi, fantasy, and horror. Once again, I don't buy books all that often as I tend to just go to the library.

Hope that helps!

Here's my constantly updated wish list (http://www.wists.com/coreypobrien) and a quick plug for wists.com (my most favoritest wishlist system). Not everything is in the $10-20 range, but there are definitely at least a few things that are.

Hmmm...gift certificates to pretty much anything (I especially love books, music, food, TV, and movies).

If there's an iTunes gift certificate, that would be cool, too (I spend way too much money there).

You can also make me something if you are so inclined (and you want to go cheap)- I like any kind of baked good or creative thing.

Or, like Tara, I love chocolate. I also like Peanut M&Ms, those Reese's Christmas Tree things, the Snicker's Nutcracker-shaped things...I'm making myself hungry.

I'd really like to play Galactic Galactic for Christmas, I don't want the board game, I just want to suddenly find myself in a room with 5 other players ready to go for a good (terrible) twelve hour game.

:: looks off to the distance longingly and sadly knows this can not be ::

But I love sour candy! Chewy sour sweet tarts or shocktarts or give some chocolate to Tara and give me the credit, that would be great.

I suck at making christmas lists, but here goes.

-I love books, so gift certificates to Barnes & Noble or Border's would be great.
-Best Buy gift cert would also work
-You could introduce me to some new music, I'm told I listen to like 5 bands, so maybe you could add a 6th.

I'll add more later if I think of anything specific.

Really... to whoever was sent my name, I apologize in advance. I'm hard to buy things for. I usually don't do Secret Santa, partly because of this and partly because I'm weird when it comes to getting gifts for people. But, I thought I'd give it a try this year.

So, I would like (not in any certain order):
  • Some of those dungeon tiles that B has (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, Martin and Corey would be good people to talk to). I don't know how much they cost.
  • I like trying unusual and exotic foods... not sure how you translate that into a gift without risking getting something nasty, but that's your problem! ;-) A gift certificate to a restaurant that serves a more unusual style of food (not Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean, or Indian, for example) would be good, and then it would be my fault if I picked something nasty off the menu.
  • A dragon egg. May cost more than $20 if you try to buy one (black market), but if you go slay a dragon and get an egg for me I'll reimburse you for any damage to your armor or healing potions you used.
  • One of my brothers is really good at chess, the other is getting there too. So they've peer-pressured me not to let myself fall behind them. So, a book on chess would be good -- but if you don't know much about chess, and chess books in particular, you may want to skip on this. I don't know enough to offer good suggestions, but from talking to my brother Ben, they vary widely in purpose (chess books get very specialized) and the playing style they teach. So, it might be hard to get an appropriate one if you don't know what you are doing.
  • Indiana Jones. Not the movies, not action figures, Indiana Jones -- the dude. As in Harrison Ford with a whip. You know where this is going...
  • I like nerdy/sciency things. Is there a Science store in the mall here? There was one where I grew up, and it always had lots of neat things. Some were horrendously expensive, but they also had everything down to fun little trinkets. So, if there's a store like that around, you might want to go browse and see what looks like it might interest me.
  • Speaking of sciency stuff, I would like a telescope. Getting a good one is probably a *lot* more expensive than $20, so this probably isn't a good idea for Secret Santa, but I thought I'd throw it out there since it occurred to me.
Again, sorry for the short and vague list. I've had trouble making Christmas lists since I was 14 years old. Good luck to you, Mr(s). Kringle!

Here's the stuff I want and I will get 'cause what I want I get from you... Actually, I don't know what I want from you. Umm, maybe you get me.. oh! You should totally make sure you save me some of the meal you will have the night we give each other stuff! I will be very late 'cause of work (which I cannot get out of 'cause other manager guy broke hisself) and will miss all of the nummies. So, you get a nice big plate of goodness and wrap it up, preferably in the fridge unless you want me die, and then I get happy surprise when I get there! Yay! Umm, I really do want this, but if you think I don't then get me a nice bottle of drunk, preferably the red to blush genre of Yellowtail or SutterHome or whatever you like 'cause new is good. Yup! Thanks!!

OH, it's me again (Drew). I was just thinking that some people (not Drew) actually like shopping and would totally hold it against me for not providing some sport for you holiday adventuring. So, in order of the shizz you should get me, in descending order:

!) A big plate o' potluck food
@) A bottle o' drunk
#) A dagger! I was just reading the other posts on here and saw that some cool chick and I think alike and once some cops jacked all my knives 'cause they were illegal or something, so nothing fancy if this is the route you're going to take, just a nice simple dagger kinda' blade, but make sure you don't get me both a dagger and a bottle 'cause that would be ridiculous and if I had a knife I could cut this run-on sentence in pieces. Yay!

1. Turtles
2. I love to read.
3. There has been some comment on the lack of dvds in my life (and the fact that i have never seen anything) so if you like it, send it my way on the offchance that i will too.
4. I really like Harry Potter, I have the movies and Books, and books on tape but I would like other stuff, Aka: trivia games, lego sets (i like stuff that i can build)
5. anything artsy
6. i really like surprises (stuff that is not on my list but someone thinks i will like)
Stuff that will keep me occupied during/after my surgery is good too.

Happy Shopping1

I'll make it easy on the person that got my name by relating the following bit of my personal ethos.

I don't value getting a gift that is something I want so much, because if I want something I tend to just get it, or it's prohibitively expensive. So in some respects, that makes me difficult to shop for I guess.

But! There is another path! I do value getting stuff that other people want me to have. So, Secret Santa, whoever you may be, my advice to you is getting me something that you think I should have, and not necessarily something I might want. Things that you like can be fun to give to somebody else.

But if guidlines you must have, I will warn you to avoid buying me anything consumable, because I have notoriously difficult tastes.
My other hobbies include, but are not limited to - Sitting in the dark, Playing D&D, drawing with ink!

Here are enough ideas to keep me surprised. But if you have something else in mind, go for it. I love being surprised.

Law school has created quite a caffeine addiction, so coffee and coffee accessories are good. If there any coffee shops sells in Lexington sell beans (you don't have to have them ground), that would be great. I like trying new kinds of coffee. I also want a French press, but I have no idea how much they cost.

I like trying unusual beer.

I don't buy much music lately, so I really need some. If you have something in mind I'd like, or a Best Buy gift card

Futurama Volume 3.

I have one to add: Mike Doughty CD: Skittish/Rockity Roll (it would most likely be in a used CD store or Barnes and Noble- I couldn't find it at Best Buy last Friday).
